1819-Vatican, IT

Well, I did it once and will never do it again. I visited the Vatican in hopes of seeing the Sistine Chapel. But first you gotta go to St. Peter’s Basilica. So my friend Dalton and I go to the cathedral and there is a line of a thousand people snaking it’s way around the plaza waiting to get in. He spots another entrance where there is no line. It’s for those who want to go in and pray. So he walks over to the security guards and looks them in the eye and says “pray” and they give him the hard eyeball and let him in. I was shocked at his boldness and lock-stepped right in behind him. We were in and I didn’t burst into flame. So far of good.

The Basilica was stunning, amazing, beautiful and grotesque at the same time. All I could think was how many of these types of religious building there were around here and how many indigenous people were killed to loot the gold and silver to adorn every nook and cranny of this place. All for what???

You cannot just go see the Sistine Chapel. You have to walk through floor after floor after floor of the same discolored painting and sculptures of the same people from religious history. On and on and then there are floors of stolen art and treasures from Egypt. WHAT?

You can not imagine my bad attitude.

Still haven’t seen the Sistine Chapel.
