1670-Oregon Coast

It was now time to work my way down the coast and eventually to Bend, OR. The ride was all twisty-turny through narrow mountain country roads. I was there at the perfect time, not hot, no rain, and everything green. Uneventful ride to Corvalis, OR where I stopped and had a great time eating and exploring this fun college town.

It was interesting to note during these COVID times riding across Wyoming and Idaho – not a mask-wearing person in sight. I entered a restaurant in Wyoming wearing a mask and was greeted by all other customers as if I was a freak with two heads. Stopping in Corvallis, everyone wore a mask – even outside on the street. I also found this to be true in Bend, OR. Oregonians respected someone else’s health. What a great concept!

Sadly, the only other location on my entire 4-week 5,000 ride where masks were required was on Navajo land. COVID has decimated the Navajo people and they were very strict on health protocols. I once got yelled at as I entered a convenience store outside Monument Valley for forgetting my mask.
