Beartooth Pass in Montana and Wyoming is a right of passage for adventure motorcyclists. It is one of the most challenging and beautiful of all motorcycle roads in the country. Just to begin the journey is a ride in itself since the pass is in the middle of nowhere Montana. The pass is only open a few months of the year and when you see the video you will see why. The road is narrow, steep, no guardrails, 2,000 foot fall-offs, and spectacular views. At the 11,000 foot crest the wind howled and was cold enough to put on my heated gear. Dropping down the other side into Wyoming the road opens into the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, a broad gorgeous valley framed by majestic peaks. Eventually, the road ends in the high desert of Cody, WY – the gateway to Yellowstone.
