1798-Truck Ride, NZ

We visited a neighbor’s farm and they were showing us all of the various tractors and vehicles they use. I walked into the garage and saw the coolest truck I have seen in a long time. A new diesel Toyota Land Cruiser. I was really trucked-up. The next day, they came over to our friends for dinner and brought the truck. He said to me, “you’re going to drive this!” All I could do was think, oh shit, I had already had a bottle of wine. He told me, “no problem, this is New Zealand.” Okay, a vehicle I’ve never driven before, right-hand driving, four-speed stick (in your left hand), driving on the left side of the road and finally, you must have had to be 5’2” to drive this truck, since the seat want all the way back and my knees were in my face. This will be interesting.

We got on the road and he said “get into fourth, let’s go faster.” We are now on a windy narrow two-lane farm road. After about ten minutes of one notch to terrified driving he said, “let’s turn around.” I pulled off to another road and tried to spin around., This truck did not have power steering. It was arm-strong power steering. We got it going and I’m driving along and he sys to me “the left would be good, the left would be good, the left would be good, GET ON THE LEFT! Oh shit I was on the wrong side of the road. Check out the video. You will be a lough. I made it back alive then then Janine took out the truck for a spin and made it back alive, but almost ran into our camper van in the driveway.

Good times were had by all!

I don’t fit in this truck!!!
