We ended up staying in Reims for a few days at a wonderful hotel overlooking Notre-Dame de Reims. We went on several champagne tasting tours into the caves and you can check that out in a later post. Reims is a bustling city with gentle courteous people. Cars don’t honk here, people don’t push and shove, and locals told us Reims is not Paris. That’s why people live here. We walked all over Reims would come back to visit again. The food, the champagne, the sites all good!
This guy on the left is some kind of religious fanatic doing his penance. He was on this space all day every day sitting stiffly in this position. He wasn’t a beggar – just a creepy religious nut. I kept thinking of the The Da Vinci Code and the Knights Templar punishing themselves for godly “perfection.” Remember, this area of France was where all of that movie stuff was supposed to have happened. I love it when the movies actually reflect real life. Yikes!!
