I had a great time seeing some old high school chums David and Leslie in Bend, OR. They have recently moved from Southern California as have many seeking cheaper digs, less pollution, less congestion and being closer to family. Bend is a young, educated, upscale, fun city with plenty of craft beer. Bend is a city where people look out for other people – everyone was wearing a mask even outside downtown. I felt safe there away from the ignorance and self-centeredness of many of the places I had recently visited. David, Leslie and I cruised the downtown, did a little sight-seeing and eventually tubbed the Deschutes River on a very hot day. I look forward to visiting Bend again but this time with Janine.
