The Smithsonian Buffalo Bill Center of the West is one of the finest western museums in the country. The history of the Plains Indians, gun collection, history of William Cody along with the natural history of the area and western art make this museum one of the greatest. I have wanted to go to Cody and see this for years and was able to work it in with my travels.
I loved the lyrics to this Lakota song:
You cannot harm me,
You cannot harm one who has dreamed a dream like mine,
One who has seen the buffalo in their mighty lodge
And heard them say,
“Arrows cannot harm you now.”

Unfortunately this was exactly how the West was ruled – by the White man.
Beautiful history of the Plains Indians.
