Janine found the cheapest way to get from St. Thomas to the Dominican Republic was to spend the night in Puerto Rico. Since I had never been there, it was worth the effort and to save a little $$. We stayed in Old San Juan next to the fort everyone is familiar with. The port with the cruise ships was across the street from the hotel and all of these historical buildings in the other direction.
