The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, NM is a small but feisty museum. It is perched on a hillside overlooking the city and the White Sands Missile Test Site. The view of the desert valley from the museum was extraordinary. The museum houses a small yet broad-based collection of many of the items used at White Sands in the early years of the space program, plus test versions of many other space vehicles. Check out some of the cool things we saw.
Spaceship One – first private space vehicle.
Escape rocket for the Apollo space module.
Rocket sled world record holder – 600+ mph.
Remains of a German V2 rocket tested at White Sands.
