Ever wondered where they make the wheels for ships? Well I have, and here’s where they used to do it. This historic wheel shop at the Maritime Museum at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard in Steveston, BC was filled with the machinery used to create beautiful ships wheels. Invented and manufactured decades ago, these machines are a marvel of old-world technology that is still useful today.
This machine is a lathe that grinds the wheels into perfect circles.
