The Sagrada Familia is a privately funded cathedral that when completed will be the the highest religious building in the world. It is the most amazing building to see from the outside, but inside it is a masterpiece of design, artistry, and imagination that is beyond belief. There are no straight lines in the major construction aspects of the building. Antoni Gaudi designed the entire structure to reflect nature. Inside, all of the columns reaching to the sky mimic standing in a huge forest looking up into the trees. The major stained glass windows face west so when sunset comes, the colors in the cathedral change every minute as the sun moves.
Janine and I sat in the chairs in the middle of the building and took in the majesty of what this was for many minutes.

All of the color changes are the result of the setting sun changing
positions and shining through the stained glass.
After Gaudi died other artists began completing the cathedral. On the west side of the building they paid homage to him above one of the large entrances with his likeness.
George Lucas of Star Wars fame visited the cathedral many years ago when he was producing the first Star Wars movie. He designed the Stormtroopers in homage to Gaudi’s creations.
