I have been riding my BMW GS-1200 motorcycle for over eight years. I wish I had picked up bike riding many years earlier in my life. These eight years included some of the most exciting and challenging adventures I have ever had. I rode over 30,000 miles on “Miss Alaska” traveling from SoCal all over the Western states and twice to Alaska. But as Clint Eastwood once said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.” I have never crashed or had to lay the bike down during an emergency situation. I always rode super defensively constantly looking out for those idiots on the road were all trying to kill me through intoxication, ineptness or stupidity. It was now time to step off the bike. Most importantly, we were moving to the Big Island of Hawaii and BMW touring bikes don’t fit in. I put the bike on consignment at a local bike shop. When it sold I had to say my thanks and goodbye. I spent a lot of time on “Miss Alaska” and she took care of me along the way. So here is a big hug to “Miss Alaska” and all of the riding memories and to my good bud Dave with whom I shared the bike for a few years and eventually purchased the other half of the bike from Dave.
