1822-Sardinia, IT

Sardinia was very similar to Corsica as far as the picturesque castles, harbors, and mountains. Exalt everyone spoke Italian. We took a day bus trip into the mountains and visited very small walled towns nestled into the landscape all surrounded with a stone wall to keep out the hoards. Of course the food was wonderful.

Red Kite
We stopped at a restaurant on the top of one of the mountains for a snack. Apparently this was the prefect spot for a flock of Red Kites to show off their flying skills. The Red Kite is a raptor and hunts small critters on the ground. As the updrafts swooped and swirled the Kites would circle around and then dive towards the ground practicing their hunting skills.
