One of the side trips was a kayak adventure into the mangroves on the edge of the island. The winds were strong so we stayed close to the shore. Our guide knew the mangroves like the back of his hand and took us into narrow passageways and presented lessons on the environmental aspects of why the mangroves are important and how they can be protected.
