My friend Jimmy and I have been to Death Valley many times, but this time we chose to drive then entire Saline Valley (over one hundred miles) on a rocky, rutty, dirt road. The road is “maintained” but you should have 4-wheel and high clearance to do it. There is no where to go but to the end of the road if you get on it. We were surprised to see a Honda Accord scrapping it’s way down the road about sixty-five miles in. Yikes!
The Saline Valley Hot Springs have a sorted history of being an old-school, free-thinkers, nudist hang-out. And it was. Jimmy and I camped at the end of the camping area a good distance from the others. It was a mixed bag of desert creatures and unfortunately we fit right in. That night we did not try the hot springs because they were filled with a bunch of naked white fat guys. No Thank You.
It was a very cool spot in the middle of Death Valley.
