Haines, AK has come a long way since I drove through five years ago on my way out of Alaska. Haines has new hotels, a brewery that was wonderful, and a first class restaurant where I had one of the best meals on the entire ride. It’s not just a sleepy little Native town trying to find it’s way, but a growing destination trying to figure out how to draw the larger cruise ships into its port like their neighbor Skagway. Haines is surrounded by beautiful mountains and the Pacific Ocean. I bet winter there is a challenge, but I was there in the summer.
