The Aurora Ice Museum is a one-of-a-kind presentation of ice sculptures that are available to experience year-round. We visited at the end of March just at the close of winter. Snow and ice was on the ground and it was 30 degrees at night but much of the natural ice was melting. The interior of the ice museum is kept at 24 degrees years-round by the use of a geothermal powered chiller (it has to do with the boiling point of ammonia as the heat transference fluid). Inside the museum the wonderful and mystical sculptures of world-class ice artists are displayed along with an ice bar at which you sit on ice stools and sip an apple teenie from hand-made ice goblets. If you wanted to spend the night in the museum, you can reserve one of the four ice bedrooms. The entire room is frozen, you sleep on ice (yes they put down thick animal skins as a mattress pad) and I guess it’s quite the experience, but not my cup of tea.
