As a middle-aged college professor, I never imagined I would step out of my comfort zone, and having never ridden a bike before, ride 2,000 miles across the Southern states by myself. Well I did it, and it changed my entire confidence in how I tackle the world each day. It was both frightening and exhilarating at the same time. The road is a magical Zen-like place where you can get in a “zone” and focus on the drive ahead and become one with the highway. I have always read about the “freedom” of riding a bike, and now I have found out it is true. Who would have ever thought I would be going eighty miles per hour on a motorcycle and be totally calm and at peace.
