Janine’s experience in the travel industry brought us the opportunity to visit Stillpoint Lodge in Halibut Cove, AK. I had heard of Halibut Cove for all of the years I lived in Alaska, but never had the chance to visit. Halibut Cove is not a tourist destination, but a private island where an invitation is required. Stillpoint was created a few years ago as a retreat for spiritually minded people who desired a quiet retreat in one of the most beautiful areas in Alaska. The Thurston family built this lodge out of love for the connection with nature. Individual cabins are placed in locations throughout the property each with a private view of the cove and mountains. The Thurston’s are wonderful people who opened their home to us to get to know them and the lodge. The lodge staff are well connected and live the purpose of the lodge – which is as the welcoming sign states: “a place to rekindle your spirit.”
