I had four hours in Sitka so I headed for Totem Park. This was a small exhibit of some of the artistry of the Native carvers but a wonderful experience to see large totems in their natural setting. The tall totems are carved from native Sitka Spruce. These trees grow tall and straight and can stand the test of time as a piece of art after they are cut down and carved by local artists.
This post one of the segments of the journey driving from Alaska to Southern California.
