Haines, AK is where I will pick up the Alaska Marine Highway ferry and head for Bellingham, WA. It’s a beautiful little town in the middle of nowhere. Two-days drive from Anchorage, AK through some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see.
This post one of the segments of the journey driving from Alaska to Southern California.

Outside Haines, AK I spotted this working fish wheel. These machines were originally created by Native Alaskans and built out of wood. They sit in the shallows and fish 24/7. Driven by the current, the machine rotates nets that grab the fish and then slide them off into a containment box. The next day you empty the box and it keeps fishing.
